About MortalShell2.lol
Who we are, how we verify game data, and our relationship (none) with the game's developer.
What is Mortal Shell 2
Mortal Shell 2 is the second installment in the Mortal Shell series, developed by Cold Symmetry and built on Unreal Engine 5. Released in August 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam Deck, Mortal Shell 2 expands the soulslike formula that made the first game a cult favorite. The most talked-about change in Mortal Shell 2 is the removal of the stamina bar — combat now flows entirely around positioning, hardening, and shell abilities rather than managing a green gauge.
Mortal Shell 2 features eight playable Shells, each with distinct stats, weapon affinities, and unique abilities. Where the original offered four Shells, the sequel doubles the roster and introduces deeper build variety. Players of Mortal Shell 2 also gain access to four Seals — equippable buffs that reshape how a given Shell performs in combat. On top of that, Mortal Shell 2 introduces a new upgrade currency called Tarstones, with 75 unique stones spread across the game world that modify weapon behavior, Shell stats, and Seal interactions.
For anyone new to the franchise, Mortal Shell 2 is a challenging action RPG that rewards patience, pattern recognition, and experimentation with different Shell and Seal combinations. The game launched on PC, PS5, Xbox, and Steam Deck simultaneously, with each platform presenting its own technical quirks — which is part of why this site exists.
Why we built this site
When Mortal Shell 2 launched, information about the game was scattered across dozens of Discord servers, Reddit threads, and YouTube videos — much of it contradictory or flat-out wrong. Content farms flooded search results with recycled tier lists that disagreed with each other on basic questions like which Mortal Shell 2 Shells ranked where. One site would call a Shell S-tier while another placed it at C, with zero explanation for the gap.
We built MortalShell2.lol because Mortal Shell 2 players deserved better. Instead of guessing which random wiki had accurate data, we wanted a single Mortal Shell 2 resource that was transparent about its sources, honest about what it didn't know, and actually useful for making in-game decisions. Every tool on this site was designed to solve a specific Mortal Shell 2 problem we encountered ourselves during the first weeks after launch.
Tools on this site
MortalShell2.lol provides five core tools for Mortal Shell 2 players, each designed to solve a real problem rather than generate pageviews:
- Build Planner. A four-step Mortal Shell 2 build planner that lets you pick a Shell, assign a Seal, allocate Tarstones, and choose weapons — then generates a shareable URL. No account required. Every Mortal Shell 2 build can be shared with a single link.
- Shell Tier List. A Mortal Shell 2 tier list cross-checked against six independent community sources. Where those sources disagree on a Shell ranking, we show the spread (e.g., S-to-C) instead of pretending consensus exists.
- Tarstones Guide. A complete catalog of all 75 Tarstones in Mortal Shell 2, with location descriptions, acquisition conditions, and notes on which builds benefit most from each stone.
- Best Builds. Five curated Mortal Shell 2 loadouts — one for each major playstyle — with full Shell, Seal, weapon, and Tarstone breakdowns. These are the builds we've tested extensively and can actually recommend.
- Fix Center. Fifty-one tracked Mortal Shell 2 fixes plus a dedicated Steam Deck setup guide. Mortal Shell 2 runs well on Deck, but the default Proton configuration needs several tweaks — we walk through every one.
How to use this site
Every page on MortalShell2.lol is self-contained and works without an account. If you're new to Mortal Shell 2, start with the Shell Tier List to identify which Shells match your playstyle, then move to the Build Planner to experiment with different Mortal Shell 2 configurations. The Tarstones Guide is designed to be browsed by region — check it as you progress through Mortal Shell 2 to make sure you haven't missed stones in areas you've already cleared.
If Mortal Shell 2 is crashing on your system, head straight to the Fix Center. We've cataloged fifty-one tracked issues with step-by-step fixes. The Steam Deck setup guide covers controller mapping, Proton settings, and display configuration specific to running Mortal Shell 2 on Valve's handheld. All tools on this site are free and require no sign-up.
How we verify data
- Two-source minimum. Qualitative stats (HP / Resolve ratings, weapon behavior, unlock routes) are only published when at least two independent community sources agree. Mortal Shell 2 has no public API or data files, so every number comes from player testing.
- Six-source tier cross-checks. Our Shell tier list pulls rankings from six community sources. Where a Mortal Shell 2 Shell receives wildly different ratings across sources, we display the full range rather than averaging it into a single misleading grade.
- Honest labels. Crash fixes are marked Fixed / Workaround / Pending / Partially fixed — never dressed up to sound more solved than they are. A workaround that helps 70% of players is labeled a workaround, not a fix.
- No invented numbers. Mortal Shell 2 has no public text source for exact damage values. Rather than publish numbers we can't verify, we use qualitative ratings and say so. If we don't know a stat, we write "unknown" — not a guess.
- We name our reasoning. Where reputable tier lists disagree (Gragu: S to C across sites), we show the disagreement instead of hiding it. Every ranking on this site includes a rationale field explaining why we placed it where we did.
- Unconfirmed means unconfirmed. Several offhand Infusion locations are marked "location unconfirmed" because nobody has reliably documented them in retail yet. We'd rather Mortal Shell 2 players see a "needs verification" tag than trust bad coordinates.
- Patch-tracking pipeline. Every developer patch is applied to our data within 24 hours. We're currently tracking the Adaptive Difficulty update (Build 25133113), and every changed value is logged in our changelog.
Our commitment to accuracy
MortalShell2.lol exists to serve Mortal Shell 2 players — not to generate ad impressions off misleading headlines. We commit to the following: every Mortal Shell 2 tool on this site will remain free and account-free. We will never publish a guide based on a single unverified source. When Mortal Shell 2 data changes in a patch, we will update within 24 hours. And if we get something wrong about Mortal Shell 2, we will say so plainly and fix it fast. This site is built by Mortal Shell 2 players, for Mortal Shell 2 players, and that doesn't change.
